- ch 4, sl st to join to first ch
- ch 2 (counts as 1 hdc), hdc 9 in ring, sl st to join (10 hdc)
- *sc 1, ch 2, sl st in 2nd ch from hook, 1 sc in same st as 1st sc
- sl st in next st
- repeat from * 4 more times
- fasten off and weave in ends

These are the stars for the American flag I'm working on. The top one is just a smidge bigger than the lower one. A smidge bigger was too big so I had to downsize. Aren't they adorable? I modified the original pattern quite a bit, so I figured I'd post the pattern for people who just may need teeny-tiny, itty-bitty stars. They really are small, about an inch across. Absolutely perfect for scraps of yarn that you don't know what to do with. You can make them in different colors, sew them on things, put 'em darlings in a bowl and let your kids play with them... Anyway, I used worsted weight yarn (you can experiment with different kinds) and a US size E hook (3.50mm).
