The blue square is done!

Finished the 19" x 19" blue square that goes in the upper left corner of the flag. It came out to be 64 rows of single crochet.

It took about about 10 hours to complete with 1 skein of RedHeart® Super Saver® in Soft Navy. I did it over the span of 3 days during my free time. Here's what the stars looked like arranged on the blue:

I think it's coming along rather nicel and have to say, I'm very excited. I'll start working on the red and white stripes soon!
